Stone, Vol. 1

Stone Volume 1 - Sin-ichi Hiromoto, Shin-ichi Hiromoto This is something like a blend of Dune and Waterworld (if it had been done halfway right instead of the tripe with Kevin Costner), and some other small elements. It is a post-apocalyptic tale where the planet has been flooded over by sands (sort of a quicksand. There are oceans, but they are sand rather than water). On a small island, which is really the wreckage of an old aircraft carrier, a young girl comes of age. She is the witch with the pink hair. Tale has some pirates as well, and some bad guys from a shady empire to boot. Very fast pace at times for the reading. The line art is pretty good, and there is enough in it that I will go looking for the next volume.
